Can I choose my own therapist?

Yes. You are welcome to browse our team page and request a specific clinician when you book. If your preferred clinician has a wait, we will let you know and can place you on their list or suggest a colleague with a similar background and approach. We never assign a therapist without your input.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. We offer secure video sessions for clients across Alberta. Virtual appointments follow the same clinical standards as in-person sessions and are available for individual therapy, couples counselling, and most other services.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first session is an intake appointment. Your clinician will spend time understanding what brought you in, your history, and your goals. Nothing is required of you except honesty about what you are experiencing. There is no pressure to discuss anything you are not ready for.

How long are sessions?

Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Assessment and consultation appointments may be longer and will be communicated to you when you book.

Are your services free?

No. Our services are fee-for-service, meaning there is a cost per session. However, many clients have all or a significant portion of their fees covered through extended health benefits, motor vehicle accident (MVA) insurance, or workers compensation (WCB). We are happy to walk you through your options before your first appointment.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards, debit, and e-transfer. Payment is collected at the time of service unless you are covered through a third-party payer such as an insurer or WCB.

Does my extended health insurance cover psychological services?

Many employer group benefits plans cover services provided by a Registered Psychologist or a provisionally registered psychologist. Coverage amounts and annual limits vary widely by plan. We recommend calling the member services number on the back of your benefits card before your first session to confirm your coverage. We can provide receipts in the format required by your insurer.

Do you offer direct billing to insurance?

Direct billing availability depends on your insurer and your clinician. Please ask our office when you book and we will confirm whether direct billing is an option for your plan. Where direct billing is not available, we provide official receipts for you to submit to your insurer for reimbursement.

What if I do not have extended health benefits?

We welcome clients without insurance coverage. Please speak with our intake coordinator about our current fees. We are committed to making care as accessible as possible and are happy to discuss your situation.

Can I use my Health Spending Account (HSA) or Wellness Account?

Yes. Psychological services are generally eligible expenses under a Health Spending Account. We provide official receipts that can be submitted to your HSA administrator.

Can you provide psychological services related to a motor vehicle accident?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We regularly work with clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and other psychological effects following a motor vehicle accident. Our clinicians are experienced in MVA-related psychological care and work within the Alberta auto insurance framework.

Is psychological treatment covered under Alberta auto insurance after an MVA?

Under Alberta's direct compensation model, Section B accident benefits may cover psychological treatment regardless of fault. If your injuries are more serious or your claim proceeds through a tort (at-fault) process, psychological treatment costs may also be recoverable. We recommend consulting with your insurer and, if applicable, your legal counsel to understand your specific coverage.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to access MVA psychological services?

Not always. Many insurers allow you to access psychological services directly without a physician referral, though some may require a referral or treatment plan approval. Contact our office and we will help you navigate the process with your insurer.

Can you provide psychological reports for an MVA claim or legal proceeding?

Yes. Our registered psychologists can prepare psychological assessment reports, functional capacity opinions, and expert reports in support of MVA insurance claims or legal proceedings. Please contact us to discuss the specific type of report required and the associated process.

How long does a psychological assessment take?

Assessment length depends on the type. A psychoeducational assessment typically involves two to four hours of testing spread across one or two appointments, plus a feedback session. Other assessments vary. We will give you a clear timeline when you inquire.

Can you provide letters or documentation for school, work, or disability purposes?

Yes. We can prepare clinical letters and supporting documentation for accommodations at school or work, short-term disability claims, or other purposes. These are based on an established clinical relationship and our professional assessment of your situation.
